Perhaps less heralded due to a shortened tournament run, the 1996-97 Kansas Jayhawks enjoyed a remarkable season. Paul Pierce, Raef LaFrentz, Jarod Haase, Scot Pollard and Jacque Vaughn lead the Jayhawks to a 34 wins and one loss (in double overtime) and a number one ranking all but the first two weeks of the season. Although the 1996-97 Jayhawks suffered a heartbreaking loss to a very talented Arizona squad in the Sweet Sixteen, their legacy remains as one of college basketball's most talented teams of all time.
